Our primary goals

Raise public awareness

The biggest obstacles to the take up of technologies such as renewable sources of energy and clean coal lie in vested interests, cultural barriers to change and simple lack of awareness. (Avoiding Dangerous Climate Change, UK Meteorological Office)

Support tangible projects on the ground

We are committed to acting on conviction, and we endeavor to work either directly with players on the ground, or provide support to focused projects through existing associations and other NGOs.

Our Reasoning

The Mangrove Foundation is an initiative of Mangrove Capital Partners, who has decided to Act for the planet's and mankind's survival by giving money to worthy causes its partners collectively feel strongly about. The Foundation leverages the collective strength and vision of its team.

We hope that by creating this Foundation, we will act and encourage others to do the same.

Our Governance

M. Paul Helminger, Mayor of the City of Luxembourg, is the President of the Mangrove Foundation.

The Mangrove Foundation is associated to

the Fondation de Luxembourg.

The Fondation de Luxembourg was set up by the State of Luxembourg and the Oeuvre Nationale de Secours Grande-Duchesse Charlotte in January 2009 with the objective of promoting private philanthropy. It provides a simplified though fully regulated and tax efficient framework with the aim to be a centre of expertise in philanthropy.

The Mangrove Foundation supports two global causes which address environmental and overpopulation challengesEnvironmentalWe are in an environmental crisis which threatens the survival of our Earth as a suitable place for human habitation. As fathers, It is our responsibility to preserve our planet's integrity for our children and their future generations.The key causes the foundation wants to support are connected to:- Land degragation- Resources depletion- Energy use- Water access and treatment- Climate changeOverpopulation"If we don't halt population growth with justice and compassion, it will be done for us by nature, brutally and without pity - and will leave a ravaged world." Into Eden is a documentary film directed by Leila Conners, director of The 11th Hour. This documentary will be the sequal to the 11th hour and is expected to be released at the end of 2011.What we are Exploring: The Challenge of Knowing the TruthWe are living in a time when many of our fundamental assumptions about the world are in question because human civilization is being confronted with significant challenges.The life-support systems of the planet are deteriorating, resources are becoming scarce and we are undergoing a dramatic shift in the fundamentals of our economic system around the world.The stress of this uncertainty and rapid change are plunging human consciousness into the fires of transformation.In a sad irony, many of the solutions to our problems are known to us; however, we dont embrace them, nor do we act to implement them. Why is this?

Les Amis de Gambie is a not for profit organisation dedicated to educating mostly female children in Gambia, Africa.The organisation was created and run by Sia Jongeneel.It is a passionate effort to make a difference in the lives of young girls.The orphanage houses 20 children and the school welcomes 250 children.

Babagarage No Frame

SOS Sahel International is a NGO set up in Dakar in November 1976 at the initiative of Leopold Sedar Senghor, then President of Senegal.SOS Sahel is pursuing the same objectives on the ground since its inception: access to water, health, environmental protection and prevention of food crises.The purpose of the project is to restore degraded environment in Senegal by providing logistics, training and assistance to the population in 5villages.The project is part of a broadersustainable reforesting program.

Lanao Mangrove No Frame

Lanao Aquatic and Marine Fisheries Center for Community Development (LAFCCOD Inc) is a Philippine NGO founded in 1989 that facilitates in developing small fisherfolks capabilities in managing coastal and marine ecosystems, empowering themselves including women.The project will consist in expanding the establishment, restoration and protection of mangrove areas in 4 villages.Local farmers will be equipped andtrained with techniques and skillsrequired to maintain and utilizemangroves in a sustainable manner.
