M. Paul Helminger, Mayor of the City of Luxembourg, is the President of the Mangrove Foundation.
The Mangrove Foundation is associated to
the Fondation de Luxembourg.
The Fondation de Luxembourg was set up by the State of Luxembourg and the Oeuvre Nationale de Secours Grande-Duchesse Charlotte in January 2009 with the objective of promoting private philanthropy. It provides a simplified though fully regulated and tax efficient framework with the aim to be a centre of expertise in philanthropy.

Causes
The Mangrove Foundation supports two global causes which address environmental and overpopulation challenges
Environmental
We are in an environmental crisis which threatens the survival of our Earth as a suitable place for human habitation. As fathers, It is our responsibility to preserve our planet's integrity for our children and their future generations.
The key causes the foundation wants to support are connected to:
- Land degragation
- Resources depletion
- Energy use
- Water access and treatment
- Climate change
Overpopulation

When looking at overpopulation, we want to focus our attention on:

- Contraception
- Women empowerment
